Desert Retina Consultants (formerly known as Southern California Desert Retina Consultants) provides diagnosis, treatment, and surgery for diseases of the retina, vitreous, and macula, including retina detachments. Founded by Dr. Chan 3 decades ago, we are one of the most experienced retina practices in the area. We strive to put all of our patients at ease by offering the highest quality care and personal service. Your eyes are as important to us as they are to you. Trained in the very latest treatment and surgery techniques, we participate regularly in research and clinical trials and have been featured in numerous medical journals.

Clement Chan, M.D., F.A.C.S.
Ophthalmologist and Retina Specialist | Founder
Obtained his medical degree and ophthalmological training at Loma Linda University with fellowship training at Washington University in St. Louis, MO. He founded the Southern California Desert Retina Consultants (SCDRC) and is medical director of Inland Retina Consultants (IRC). Dr. Chan has been in retinal practice here in the Coachella Valley since 1989. He is an associate clinical professor at Loma Linda University. Dr. Chan is a member of the Retina Society, Macula Society and Club Jules Gonin—national and international retina honor societies. Teaching through hands-on example, lectures and writing in specialty journals and books is his passion.

Steven G. Lin, M.D.
Ophthalmologist and Retina Specialist
Has been with the practice since 1998 and is currently a full partner of SCDRC/IRC. He earned his medical degree and completed ophthalmology residency at SUNY Downstate in New York. While undergoing his retina fellowship training at Turlane Univsersity in New Orleans, he taught ophthalmology residents. He is an assistant clinical professor at Loma Linda University Mediacal Center. Playing sports and traveling with family and friends enrich life for Dr. Lin.

Martha Henao, M.D.
Ophthalmologist and Retina Specialist
Martha Henao, M.D. We are proud to welcome Dr. Martha Henao to the team at Desert Retina Consultants. Dr. Henao is a fellowship-trained, retina specialist specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of retinal diseases, with a particular interest in age-related macular degeneration (AMD), diabetic retinopathy, retinal vascular diseases, ocular injections, and more. Dr. Henao is a graduate of Loma Linda University, earning her Medical Degree from the School of Medicine there. Dr. Henao then went on to complete advanced retinal training, including an Internship, Residency and Vitreoretinal Surgery Fellowship at the Loma Linda Eye Institute. Dr. Henao is a native Spanish speaker and is accepting new patients.
